Verse 1:
Contemplate debate amongst inner strife/1. introduce career: making something of your life/2. throw in becoming the ideal husband or wife/3. while beating down the stabs in your back from past lies/and if at any time/one outweighs the other,/it becomes half a dozen one way/the other fought over by your lover/smother everything that seems to be true/but at least come back to the whole point of what you’ve lived through/in any case, this place isn’t as great as they say;/darkest of nights and most productive of days/no sunshine but grown more than ever before in these gray rays,/making for a glazed haze of a maze/where I’m still amazed at how I graze/ on grass that’s greener on the other side/of what’s left of my pride/(pay no mind to what’s behind)/at least it’s seems to be, well comparatively speaking/seems to gleam like the slate mighta been washed and cleaned/all depends on which way you lean/that determines the outcome of all your dreams/so while the focus now rests on my next move/I breathe easy I was born to groove to anything that’s smooth/exactly why I rock out to my own tune/in a world where it seems we’ve all run out of room/if I could, I’d just spin and reset/half willing to bet the best hasn’t even happened yet/I’m content
Hook:
not too loud, not too soft, not too loud, these raindrops, these raindrops (are polished)
Verse 2:
And yet feeling stuck and movin in slow motion/but keep tellin myself somehow my character’s growin/not that it means much to a society that’s blowin/smoke like life’s a joke that has no point to where it’s goin/don’t get me wrong-the irony is it is kind of funny/how much trust we place in fame and money/And lookin back I wish I’d faced up sooner/but what can I say? I guess I’m a late bloomer/they say better late than never/so with whatever comes your way be clever/ enough to know it’s on with the show/hangin onto this rope of hope that it has to get better/get it together/can’t keep on blaming the weather forever/
